- Ismaili has been declared missing after she was involved in a swimming accident in Italy

- She was said to have hired a boat at Lake Como before she dived into the water

Swiss club Young Boys have issued an heartbreaking statement following the disappearance of their captain Florijana Ismaili who went missing after diving into Lake Como, Lombardy, Italy.

According to Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Ismaili had decided to spend a relaxing day at the lake with a team-mate, and they had rented an inflatable boat near Musso.

The 24-year-old player was reported to have jumped into the third largest lake in Italy and has been missing since then.

Young Boys have since contacted her family over the sad incident and are hopeful that she could be found.

Ismaili made her international debut for Switzerland against Portugal in 2014 and has been capped 33 times at full international level.

She has been playing for Young Boys since 2011 after joining from Nationalliga club, FC Walperswil.
