Kaizer Chiefs finally picked up their first win under Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard when they secured victory over Marumo Gallants.
Keagan Dolly got the only goal of the game in the 77th minute to give the Amakhosi the win.
Prior to Dolly’s goal, the game was an entertaining affair as both sides had numerous chances to break the deadlock. Kaizer Chiefs missed a host of headers in the first half, and the second, which had Arthur Zwane getting up from his technical area to lambaste his players.
Dan Malesela also appeared unhappy with his Baroka charges as they failed to punish the Amakhosi.
They paid the price for their missed chances when Dolly’s long range effort deflected off a Baroka defender and flew past a diving King Ndlovu and into the back of the net.
Baroka almost hit back immediately but saw two efforts saved by Bruce Bvuma in the Chiefs’ goal.
Speaking after the game, Arthur Zwane gave credit to his team for grinding out a result. He added that the more his side plays, the better they will get. He also praised the team for being disciplined and compact during the match.
Malesela cut a different figure during his post much talk. Malesela was unhappy with the team’s performance, saying that they committed so many errors against a team that they should have beaten.
