Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the man of the moment during the encounter as he got his name on the scoresheet to inspire the Red Devils to victory.
Bruno Fernandes had earlier in the first half put the hosts ahead before Ronaldo had his goal chalked off by VAR.
However, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner did enough in the second half to win a penalty he stepped up to convert to make the scores 2-0.
Raphael Varane put the game to bed in the 72nd minute in what was his first goal for the Manchester side since joining them last summer.

Elanga, who was part of the starting XI, caused a stir just before Ronaldo's goal in the 61st minute after he was caught on camera celebrating even before the veteran striker had taken the penalty.
In a video doing rounds on social media, Elanga can be seen sprinting in celebration as Ronaldo prepared to beat David Raya from 12 yards.
