FootballBarcelona Maintain Interest in Robert Lewandowski Despite Having At Least 11 Forwards
- Barcelona have the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Francisco Trincao out on loans and are expected back at the club at the end of the season
- Xavi to decide whether he wants to make the loan deals of Adama Traore and Luuk De Jong permanent
- Club President Joan Laporta is still chasing the services of top striker Robert Lewandowski who is said to be keen on trying a new challenge
Barcelona are faced with the exciting prospect of having at least 11 forwards in their squad this summer. The Spanish giants have a lot of players coming from loan and could have a very bulky squad for the preseason.
Despite having a number of attackers in their books, Joan Laporta, the club’s President is still chasing other key players as the club seeks to return to its glory days. Bayern Munich’s hitman Robert Lewandowski is said to be one of the targets.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore joined the club in January. Traore’s deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers was initially on-loan, but Barca have the option to make it permanent in a 30 million euros deal.
The club already has Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, Ousmanne Dembele, Luuk De Jong and Martin Braithwaite. De Jong’s deal is similar to that of Traore after the Netherlands international was roped in on loan from Sevilla.
Dembele has turned around his Barcelona fortunes
Dembele looked set to leave the club in January after failing to agree on a new deal. But subsequent impressive performances from the French winger have gotten Laporta thinking about whether it would be wise to let him leave.
The Catalans also have a number of players out on loan who are expected to return to the fold in the summer. Top on that list is Antoine Griezmann who was shipped back to Atletico Madrid and Phillipe Coutinho, who made a return to the Premier League with Aston Villa. Francisco Trincao is also on loan at Wolves.

FootballRobert Lewandowski has continued to be linked with a move to Barcelona, according to the Sun. The Poland captain has in the past expressed interest in trying out himself in a different league before he calls it quits.
Xavi will be faced with the tough decision of letting some players go. Fringe players like Braithwaite, Trincao and De Jong could be allowed to leave.
Fati is one for the future
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Ansu Fati was applauded by the Camp Nou faithful as he made his comeback from injury.
The teenager has been out with a hamstring injury and hasn’t featured for the Blaugrana in over three months.
Fati is expected to be one of the key players under Xavi in the upcoming season as the club legend aims to take Barcelona back to the Lionel Messi days.
