Gonzalo Higuain's family has been thrown into mourning following the announcement of the death of their dear mother at age 64.
The striker's mum, Nancy Zacarias, was confirmed dead earlier this week after losing a long time battle to cancer.
Reports claim the striker's mother was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness in 2016 and she went for surgery the same year.
Meanwhile, the former Chelsea forward was deliberately not informed about the situation due to his involvement in the Copa America competition that year.

SunSport reveals that Higuain got to know after Argentina's defeat to Chile in the final of the competition through penalties.
And this led to the player almost hanging his boots even when he was doing pretty well for his club. He said:
“I decided immediately that I must stop playing football so that I could look after my mum. I suspected something was wrong at home during the Copa America, but it was still a huge shock when I was told the truth.
“I felt guilty, because I played in that final without knowing. My whole world came crashing down in that moment. I was not interested in anything else but my mum.
"I told her I was finished with football and if it had been down to me I would have stopped playing.
“Her reply was that when I played football it made her happy. She told me that she would not allow me to give up something I loved. She asked me to carry on for her - and I knew I had to grant that wish.”
This sad news came a few days after Higuain and his older brother Federico made history in the MLS after they both scored to help Inter Miami beat Philadephia Union 2-1.
The club, while paying tributes to the player, said in a statement:
“The Inter Miami CF family is saddened to hear of the passing of Gonzalo and Federico Higuain’s beloved mother Nancy Zacarias.
“Our deepest condolences go out to our players and their entire family during this difficult time. We give the Higuains our full support as they cope with their loss.”
Higuain moved to the United States in 2020 and has scored three goals in 11 appearances for The Herons.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal on loan star Atletico Madrid Lucas Torreira has lost his mother, Viviana, to coronavirus.
The football star's 53-year-old mum was recently taken to the Intensive Care Unit after contracting the virus in Uruguay.
Sources reveal that the Spanish outfit granted the midfielder special permission to fly home to be by her side before she eventually passed away on Tuesday, March 30.
