Legendary Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan has opened up on how his elder brother Baffour Gyan played an instrumental role in his illustrious career.

Both Asamoah and Baffour Gyan began their careers from Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals, with the former going on to achieve greater success.

But the 36-year-old Asamoah Gyan believes his elder brother paved the way for him to achieve the success he continues to bask in.

Gyan reckons that Baffour continues to support his career in the background despite the backlash his elder brother receives.

He made this revelation during his autobiography launch last Saturday, with the ex-Ghana captain shedding tears in an emotional account of how his career has panned out.

"He [Baffour Gyan] is the key, he is the one behind my success. Sometimes criticism comes and people blame him for being a bad influence but they don’t know what he has done in the background." Asamoah said as quoted by Football Ghana.

Although he is yet to hang his boots, Gyan has not played active football since the expiration of his contract with Legon Cities last year.

He still remains Ghana's leading all-time top scorer with 51 goals in addition to his more enviable feat as Africa's leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals.
