FootballChristian Pulisic’s Father Calls His Son’s Situation at Chelsea Sad
- Pulisic's father tweets that he is saddened by his son's apparent lack of playing time at Chelsea
- The Chelsea star has only started and completed eight games across all competitions this season out of his 34 appearances
- He is expected to play a big part in America's World Cup campaign in Qatar later on this year
Christian Pulisic’s father has been left frustrated over his son’s continued lack of playing time at Chelsea. Mark Pulisic took to Twitter to register his disappointment but deleted the tweet a few minutes later.
Pulisic has been a fringe player under Thomas Tuchel, with most appearances coming from the bench. Tuchel had worked with Pulisic during his Borussia Dortmund days, and it was widely expected that he would be a regular player under the German coach.
The acquisition of German attackers Timo Werner and Kai Havertz plus the emergence of academy product Mason Mount has made Pulisic make sporadic appearances. Constant injuries have also slowed him down.
The Sun reports that his father labelled the situation as ‘sad.’
The sad thing is he loves this club, teammates and London. Puts his heart and soul into being a pro. Onwards and upwards my boy. Big six months ahead.
Despite his struggles, the American has conjured and scored important goals for Chelsea in recent times. He came off the bench in a London derby against West ham to turn in a Marcos Alonso cross in the 90th minute to guarantee Chelsea maximum points.
The 23-year-old has only completed the full 90 minutes on eight occasions across all competitions this season. His prolific debut season at Chelsea saw the club give him the iconic number 10 shirt that was left vacant by club legend Eden Hazard.
He still has two more years on his current deal, and his father and other Americans will be hoping for more regular appearances ahead of the World Cup later this year. Pulisic is one of the stars of the American team that will play against England, Iran and a yet-to-be-confirmed team in the group stages.

FootballEverton beat Chelsea to ease relegation troubles
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported that Chelsea’s hopes of finishing third were dealt a major blow when they went 1-0 down to Everton on Sunday.
Richarlison scored the only goal of the game immediately after half-time to ease relegation fears for the Toffees. It was the first meeting between Chelsea and Frank Lampard after the legend was sacked last year.
Chelsea remain third, but their grip on third place was cut to two points with four games of the campaign left to play.
