  • Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways when they host Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night
  • The Red Devils are winless in three of their most recent Premier League outings, with their last match ending in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea

With no trophy to fight for, Manchester United have set their sights on ending the season on a high with just a few matches left to end the campaign.

United have only three matches left to conclude their season, with their meeting with Brentford on Monday night, May 2, their last home fixture this term.

The tie comes at a time the Red Devils have endured a frustrating campaign that has left them in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot.

Match Preview

Man United avoided a third straight defeat last Thursday after they drew 1-1 with rivals, Chelsea, at Old Trafford.

Marcos Alonso handed the Blues the lead in the 60th minute before Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled it out two minutes later to ensure the tie ended all square.

Prior to the Chelsea clash, the Red Devils had suffered two successive defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Brentford have enjoyed a successful season by their standards and are assured of remaining in the top-flight for another season.

The Bees are currently placed 14th on the standings and have reached the magic 40-point milestone.

Team news

In terms of the team news, United will miss the services of a host of players during Brentford's visit.

Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, and Mason Greenwood will all play no role in the clash, while Jadon Sancho is a major doubt with illness.

In the Brentford camp, Thomas Frank will be without Ethan Pinnock, Sergi Canos, Frank Onyeka, Saman Ghoddos, and Mathias Jorgensen.

However, he should be able to welcome back the duo of Christian Norgaard and Kristoffer Ajer.

Possible starting XI

Man United:

David De Gea; Diogo Dalot, Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Telles; Matic, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Elanga; Christiano Ronaldo

Brentford:

Raya; Ajer, Jansson, Sorensen; Roerslev, Eriksen, Norgaard, Janelt, Henry; Mbeumo, Toney

The Man United midfielder shared a video of images of him with Raiola, captioning it: "Always in my heart."
