  • The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars will participate in a four-nation tournament ahead of the 2022 World Cup
  • The tournament is dubbed the 2022 Kirin Super Cup and it will be hosted by Japan from June 10, 2022 to June 14, 2022.
  • Otto Addo's men will take on the hosts, Japan, in the opening match while North African side face Chile in the other game

Ghana’s preparation for the Qatar 2022 World Cup will kickstart with a four-nation tournament that includes Japan, Chile and Tunisia.

The four-time African champions defeated Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 World Cup which is set to be hosted in Qatar in November.

The Black Stars of Ghana have been handed a tricky draw at the FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar later this year.

The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

And ahead of the tournament, Japan will host and play in the Kirin Super Cup, along with Tunisia, Chile and the Stars.

Dubbed the 2022 Kirin Super Cup, the tournament will commence from Friday, June 10, 2022 to Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

A statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said the Black Stars will face hosts Japan in their opening game while Tunisia also takes on Chile.

All the participating teams have booked their tickets to the World Cup and will therefore use the tournament as a preparation ahead of Qatar.

The winners of both matches will then clash in the final four days later, with the losers also facing off for the third and fourth places.

Ghana qualified for the World Cup in March following a 1-1 aggregate scoreline against rivals Nigeria in a two-legged playoff.

Why Ghana Will Be the Most Difficult Team to Analyze in Qatar

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that retired South Korean international Ahn Jung-hwan is of the opinion that the Black Stars of Ghana will be the most difficult team to analyze ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Jung-hwan, a veteran of three World Cups, says the unpredictability of the Black Stars team makes it difficult for any opposition to make a proper assessment of the four-time African champions.

The former footballer's conviction about the Black Stars stems from the large pool of players used during the qualification stage coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the coaching role of the West African nation.
