Jurgen Klopp has officially signed a new deal to stay a Liverpool beyond his previous contract.
The German tactician’s previous deal was set to expire in 2024, and he initially planned to take a sabbatical once that contract came to an end.
But in a drastic turn of events, Klopp, 54, seems to be keen on staying at Anfield, with the club announcing on Thursday, April 28 that a new deal had already been signed.
“Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce Jürgen Klopp has signed a new contract to extend his commitment with the club.” A statement from the club website read.
“The deal means the manager will remain at the helm of the Reds beyond the expiry of his previous deal, which was set to end in 2024.”
Klopp’s run at Liverpool
Since taking charge of the Merseyside club in 2015, Klopp has turned Liverpool into a powerhouse in Europe, winning a string of trophies in his seven year spell so far.
He initially promised to deliver the Premier League title within his first five years in charge at the club and amid heavy competition, managed to secure the 2019/2020 title.
Klopp also guided the Reds to Champions League triumph two seasons ago, beating Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
Speaking on his new deal, Klopp admitted the love he developed for Liverpool played a factor in his decision to extend his deal.

Liverpool on the hunt for quadruple
This season, Klopp has continued to live up to expectations with Liverpool, who are well on course to win the quadruple.
The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup, and they are in the FA Cup final where they will face Chelsea.
In the Champions League, goals from Sadio Mane and a deflected effort from Jordan Henderson helped them sink Villarreal in the semi-final first leg to put them in full control of the tie.
Finally, domestically, they remain hot on the heels of Manchester City, who cannot afford any slip ups in the title race with only five matches to go.
