Pep Guardiola fell to his knee moments after Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr outwitted Manchester City captain Fernandinho on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder was deployed as a right-back against Carlo Ancelotti's side following an injury to John Stones.

However, Fernandinho suffered humiliation by his compatriot Vinicius Jr in their thrilling 4-3 victory in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium.

Halfway through the second half, Vinicius Jr made it 3-2 with an epic solo effort that saw him beat Fernandinho before slotting home past a helpless Ederson.

And Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could not believe his eyes when he saw Vinicius Jr nutmegged Fernandinho with a dummy.

The tricky winger then made a run down the flank and put the ball into the net with an accurate shot.

The home side appeared to have put the tie to bed in the 74th minute when Bernado Silva found the back of the net, only for Benzema to find the back of the net from the penalty spot with just eight minutes left on the clock.

The tie eventually finished 4-3, with everything to play for when the two European heavyweights lock horns in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema's Brace Keeps Real's Champions League Dream Alive Against City

There will be everything to play for when Manchester City and Real Madrid face off in the second leg of their semi-final tie after the first leg ended in a 4-3 thrilling win for the Premier League giants, Sports Brief reported.

City appear to have their eyes fixated on winning the European title this season after falling short during last season's final where they lost to Chelsea.

The Citizens have had an epic journey in the competition this term, eliminating Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.
