Mamelodi Sundowns set to rake in millions this season

Masandawana were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League this past weekend by Petro de Luanda but will rake in millions thanks to their brilliant season thus far.

Sundowns pocketed R10.1 million for reaching the tournament's quarter-final stage, Soccer Laduma reported.

The Brazilians have already earned R8 million for winning the MTN 8 tournament earlier in the season for winning the MTN8. Sundowns also need one more point to secure their fifth consecutive Premier Soccer League title, which will net them another R15 million rand.

Finally, they still have a chance to win the Nedbank Cup tournament and the R7 million prize money that comes with it.

Mamelodi Sundowns chase another piece of history, need a single point to wrap up Premier Soccer League title

Mamelodi Sundowns are on the verge of cementing their place in South African football history. Masandawana requires just one point to secure their fifth consecutive Premier League Soccer title.

Sundowns currently hold the record for consecutive league titles won at four. The Brazilians have been dominant this season and are on the cusp of securing the title after Royal AM dropped points this weekend.

Only Cape Town City can mathematically catch Mamelodi Sundowns in the race for the title, but the two sides face off on Wednesday. The two sides will meet in Cape Town at 7:30 pm, Sports Brief earlier reported.
