As the DStv Premiership season nears its end, pressure is mounting on coaches whose sides are not performing.
Kgoloko Thobejane is the latest coach to fall victim to the mounting pressure as Baroka FC have decided to demote him.
Thobejane has been demoted to the club’s Diski Challenge side, where he will take over as head coach, The Citizen reports.
The club also confirmed the news on their official Twitter account, noting who Thobejane would be replaced by.
During his 19 games in charge of Baroka, Thobejane achieved four wins, four draws and 11 losses.
Thobejane’s demotion came as a result of Baroka’s defeat at the hands of Swallows FC over the weekend. Baroka were 2-0 at halftime but eventually lost the match 3-2, IOL noted.
The loss left Baroka rooted to the bottom of the table on 18 points, five behind Swallows and TS Galaxy. While he was not axed from the team as a whole, Thobejane did become the fifth manager to lose their job during the season.
AmaZulu started the trend when they parted ways with Benni McCarthy. SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden joined the party when they let go of Kaitano Tembo and Lehlohonolo Seema.
Kaizer Chiefs were the latest coach to sack their manager when they axed Stuart Baxter.

FootballSoccer Laduma confirmed that Arthur Zwane and Dillion Sheppard would be in charge of the club until the end of the season. Baxter came under fire from fans after the defeat to SuperSport United, with many in the stadium asking him to leave.
Baxter hit back at fans, saying that he was the most successful coach that the club has had in the past 20 years, The South African reported. However, he admitted that if fans wanted him to leave, he would, only if that’s what management wanted.
