Clinton Larsen appears to be on the radar of several teams in the DStv Premiership as the season approaches its conclusion.
Larsen has been doing an excellent job with Summerfield Dynamos this season down in KwaZulu-Natal. Not only is he on the verge of guiding them out of the ABC Motsepe League into the GladAfrica Championship, but they came into national prominence after reaching the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns.
A source of the Citizen told the publication that he was enjoying life in the lower rungs of South African football, saying:
“He had wanted to move out of the country and coach elsewhere when he was introduced to the project of Summerfield Dynamos and he liked it. He had wanted a fresh start and felt he had been running around chasing his own tail in the PSL."
The source added that Larsen was happy being out of the spotlight, which allowed him to refine his methods while also learning the latest in the craft of coaching under less pressure.
One of the teams believed to be looking to Larsen is Chippa United, with the source saying:
"He declined and explained to them that he needed this break."
Larsen has coached Bloemfontein Celtic twice, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, Polokwane City and indeed Chippa United in the top flight. Dynamos won the KZN division of the ABC Motsepe League (SAFA League), and will participate in the playoffs to determine which two teams will get into the National First Division next season.
