  • The South African football fraternity on social media was properly split after Percy Tau's poor performance for Al Ahly against Raja Casablanca
  • The Egyptians advanced to the semifinals of the CAF Champions League on aggregate, but it was the Bafana star's performance that got people talking
  • He came in for heavy criticism from some quarters, while others called for fans to try and lift him out of his struggles

As the dust settles on Al Ahly and Raja Casablanca's CAF Champions League tie, Percy Tau's performance was the subject of much debate.

The quarterfinal second leg match ended in a 1-1 draw, which was enough for the Egyptian giants to advance to the semifinals of 3-2 on aggregate.

Tau was all over the place, either hardly getting involved, or missing gilt-edged opportunities. This saw a split from armchair critics regarding his form.

"Okay so is this how you are trying to bring him down, none the less he is an owesum player and he will remain a great player throughout the course of his career, so hlala phansi sphukuphuku"

@silinda_rex said:

"People have a lot to learn about football tactics, Tau understood the assignment, His presence kept Raja defense on their half and prevented them from overlapping too much."

"Percy Tau is another overrated south african footballer, How does he get into @AlAhlyEnglish line up ahead of luis muquissonine?"

Latest on rumours that Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic is being lined up by Al Ahly

Kaizer Chiefs forward Samir Nurkovic was earlier this week linked with a sensational move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

As reported by Sports Brief, his intermediary moved to quash the rumours very quickly after they had emerged.

The Serbian will be out of a contract when it ends at the end of the season after he and the Amakhosi failed to reach an agreement by 31 March to use the option of extending his stay at Naturena by another season.
