  • Eriksen left Spurs for Inter Milan in 2020
  • He suffered a devastating heart-attack in the Euro championships of 2020
  • He has since returned to competitive football with Brentford and has been in fine form

Christian Eriksen is ready to rejoin Tottenham Hotspurs at the end of the season. Eriksen was on a short-term contract at Brenford, which expires on June 30th.

The Dane has impressed at Brentford since joining them in January but is understood to be ready to reunite with his former employers. He left Tottenham for Inter Milan in January 2020, where he was under Tottenham’s current manager Antonio Conte. Inter Milan won the Serie A title that season.

Eriksen suffered a career-threatening attack during the Euro 2020. The quick actions of his teammates, led by captain Simon Kjaer saved his life and prolonged him to a long spell on the sidelines.

Afterwards, he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). Italy rules prohibit one from playing with an ICD and Inter Milan agreed to release him from his contract.

After getting the go-ahead from medical professionals, Eriksen joined Brentford in a six-month contract. Since his return, he has scored one Premier League goal, assisted twice and scored two international goals for Denmark.

It will be good to have him back

Conte recently revealed that he met him at a hotel where he is staying.

For sure, Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s story. To come back here would be a good opportunity for him, for me, for the club, but now he’s signed for Brentford, only six months, and we’ll see what happens.
I saw him with his family and it was good. I’m the first person to be happy to see him again on the pitch because we spent a really good time at Inter Milan together. We won the league, we spent two most important seasons together. I wish him all the best for the future and you don’t know what will happen. It would be good to have him again, to work together.

The two sides meet this weekend with Tottenham chasing a top-four finish. Brentford have won three consecutive games to steer clear off the relegation battle.

Eriksen could form part of the devastating attack that he left at Tottenham of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son. The club is also set to buy Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent transfer from Juventus.
