Sowetan LIVE has now revealed that Sekhukhune United have appointed Da Gama as a co-coach, working alongside MacDonald Makhubedu.
Sekhukhune United are 10th on the table but have not picked up a win in their last six games. The side have lost four and drawn two. Chairperson, Simon Malatji, explained the decision to bring in Da Gama.
“Da Gama has been part of SA football history for many years. Sekhukhune United are particularly keen to appoint SA coaches and express commitment and confidence in the talent and ability of our local coaches,” he said.
Da Gama is expected to be in the dugout when Sekhukhune meets Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday. Golden Arrows are also going into the game with new coaches after they sacked Lehlohonolo Seema.
Da Gama’s appointment comes on the same day that Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with Stuart Baxter, Soccer Laduma reported. Baxter was let go by the Amakhosi after a string of poor results with the club. Fans have long since called for Baxter to be let go and they finally get their wish.
