According to a report via Complete Sports, The NFF has chosen José Poseiro of Portugal, but the Sports Ministry is unhappy with the decision.

The Sports Ministry is said to want all listed coaches to be properly interviewed for the position and has given a directive to the NFF to invite all shortlisted coaches to the country for the process.

Jose Poseiro was formerly announced as the coach of the Super Eagles in December 2021 following the sacking of Gernot Rohr but the deal could not be finalized by both parties.

NFF yet to contact newly appointed youth team coaches

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation is still to reach out to the new coaches of the various national teams after their appointments were announced.

According to the Punch, the coaches revealed they only heard about their appointment in the media as no formal notification has been sent by the NFF.

Salisu Yusuf, Finidi George, Kennedy Boboye, Fatai Osho, Bala Mohammed, and Ike Shorumu are some of the coaches appointed by the NFF to oversee some of the national teams including the Olympic team, Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Finidi George has been appointed as an assistant coach in the Super Eagles as Nigerians now wait for the NFF chiefs to name the head coach for the three-times African champions.

For the past few days, the Super Eagles have been without a gaffer following the disengagement of Eguavoen following his failure to qualify the nation for the 2022 World Cup.

Eguavoen and his crew lost the 2022 World Cup play-offs against Ghana as the Black Stars will be joining Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, and Cameroon as the five African representatives at the World Cup.
