Championship side Fulham have become the first club to earn a promotion to the Premier League.

The Cottagers are currently topping the standings in the English second-tier with 86 points after 42 matches.

Bournemouth, who are their closest challengers on the log remain second with 77 points but have played one match less.

How Fulham secured promotion to the top flight

Marco Silva's men confirmed their return to the Premier League following their 3-0 huge win over Preston North End at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, April 19.

Aleksander Mitrovic who has been in sensational form netted a brace during the clash, with Fabio Carvalho also getting his name on the scoresheet.

Speaking after their promotion, Fulham boss Marco Silva could hardly hide his delight, praising his charges for understanding the assignment.

“We must be proud of what we’ve achieved for this club. It was the reason me and my staff came here, the reason they invited us to come and join this club and we did it," he said as quoted by The Sun.

“I’m proud of the players, not just because we achieved our goal or aim from the first day but the way we did it," he added.

Norwich, Watford staring relegation

Meanwhile, Fulham's promotion to the Premier League comes at a time Norwich City, Watford, and Burnley are all staring at a possible relegation from the Premier League.

The three clubs have been underwhelming this season, with the Canaries currently sitting bottom of the log.

Burnley have an outside chance of surviving relegation as they are just three points off safety.
