Jordaan has been the head of the federation for 13 years and his time in charge has been marred by numerous controversies.

In 2017 he was accused of rape and last month The Daily Maverick reported that Jordaan was accused of pushing his own agenda when it came to SAFA. The Hawks were also said to be conducting investigations into the way SAFA was being run.

The latest controversy though centres around the latest SAFA congress.

Mohlabeng confirmed that his region had written to SAFA, querying how it conducted it latest congress and how it made changes to the constitution, Sunday World reported.

Mohlabeng claimed that there was no quorum formed and so the gathering was not valid and any decisions made were unconstitutional. Among the changes made to the constitution were the rejection of the idea that Premier Soccer League club owners could contest the SAFA presidency.

Another noticeable motion, which was defeated, was that the chairperson of the PSL will serve automatically as SAFA’s vice-president. In Mohlabeng’s letter to SAFA, he asked how this was allowed to stand.

“The convening of the congress was unconstitutional because it did not form a quorum. We were supposed to hold it on December 11, it did not happen. SAFA informed the region it was reconvening the congress after three months, that is where we believe SAFA erred.”
“The congress did not happen in the first place. Can you ‘continue’ a meeting that did not did not happen at all, what was wrong with convening the congress afresh?” Mohlabeng asked.

He also asked whether all members present were accredited because only full members of the association were allowed to vote. SAFA CEO, Tebogo Motlanthe, said he was unaware of Mohlabeng’s letter though.

SAFA Boss Danny Jordaan on Bafana Bafana Saga: “Patrice Motsepe Must Not Get Involved”

Despite calls from football fans urging CAF president Patrice Mostepe to intervene in the ongoing saga between FIFA, Bafana Bafana and The Black Stars, SAFA president Danny Jordaan has weighed in.

Jordaan says they are not looking for help from the South African businessman and former Mamelodi Sundowns president. Jordaan was addressing the media on Wednesday at SAFA House in Johannesburg.

His sentiments come after the national side was controversially beaten by Ghana on Sunday night in a crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier, Sports Brief earlier reported.
