Ex-Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has shed light on his reaction to Majeed Ashimeru's absence from the Black Stars squad ahead of the World Cup play-offs against Nigeria.
Gyan, who was visibly upset, about Ashimeru's snub felt the decision of the Black Stars' technical handlers to exclude the 24-year-old midfielder from the squad was unfair.
It will later emerge that Majeed was part of the initial plans of the coach however his name was omitted from the final list following a minor injury he sustained which ruled him out of the game.
Ghana will eventually qualify for the 2022 World Cup without Ashimeru but explaining the rationale behind his burst up on social media, Gyan narrated:
"My tweet on the call up for Majeed Ashimeru," he told Asaase Radio.
"I was just an expression of my own opinion in that he deserved a call-up… I have been following him and he is one of the most in-form players we have."

Asamoah Gyan expressed his frustration on Ashimeru's snub in no uncertain terms.
The all-time leading scorer for Ghana took to Twitter to register his displeasure about the absence of the Anderlecht kingpin.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has weighed in on Ghana's 27-man squad released earlier today.
After several weeks of secrecy surrounding the announcement of the Black Stars squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, coach Otto Addo belatedly released his squad on Tuesday morning.
Coach Addo's squad features four debutants as well as notable inclusions such as Partey and Amartey. However, Anderlecht attacker Majeed Ashimeru was the conspicuous absentee on the list.
