The pressure is piling on Stuart Baxter following Kaizer Chiefs’ latest defeat but the coach is willing to walk away if that’s what the fans want.

Kaizer Chiefs were beaten 1-0 by SuperSport United at home despite dominating possession and having the better scoring chances.

Thamsanqa Gabuza scored in the 68th minute to give his side the victory, Times LIVE reported.

Angry Amakhosi fans, who braved the cold and rainy weather to watch their side lose, made their feelings known after the game.

Fans could be seen chanting ‘Baxter must go’ after the defeat and Baxter has now spoken out about the fans’ reaction, iDiski Times reported.

“I don’t have any message to the fans because if they want me to go I’ll go. If the chairman says to me I don’t think you’re doing a good job then I’ll walk. I’ve got no problem doing that.”

Baxter added that he was the only coach who brought any success to the club in the last 20 years. He also reflected on Chiefs failing to put away the numerous chances they had.

“At the moment I’m looking at it as a game we should’ve won but we didn’t and that happens in football.”

Kaizer Chiefs next play Stellenbosch away on 23 April knowing that their slim chances of challenging Mamelodi Sundowns are all but over. If the Amakhosi win their remaining games, they can only finish on 60 points.

Mamelodi Sundowns are currently on 57 points. Sundowns would have to lose every single game going forward in order not to win the league.

Kaizer Chiefs and Premier Soccer League reach an agreement, the hearing will proceed, Chiefs will play disputed games

An agreement has been reached in the ongoing legal battle between Kaizer Chiefs and the Premier Soccer League. In an effort not to disrupt the current season, it has been agreed that Kaizer Chiefs will play their remaining games, including the two disputed fixtures.

The club were due to meet the PSL in court on 10 May to decide whether Chiefs would forfeit the two games or have them rescheduled as per the arbitration ruling, Soccer Laduma earlier reported.

Sports Brief reported that the South African has now confirmed that the Amakhosi will play the games against Golden Arrows and Cape Town City, regardless of what happens in the scheduled hearing.
