African football legend Didier Drogba believes an African country has the chance of winning the FIFA World Cup one day.
Ghana defeated Nigeria last month to join four other African nations heading to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Senegal, along with the Black Stars will represent CAF in the first ever November/December World Cup.
All five qualifiers booked their places at Qatar 2022 by winning two-legged playoffs.
And ahead of the global showpiece, Chelsea legend Drogba claimed that the qualified nations are the best in Africa, and that a country from the continent will win the World Cup one day.
Drogba told beIN Sports, as quoted by KingFut:
“I hope that one day I see an African team winning the World Cup,” Drogba said.
“The World Cup should have more African teams, I am glad that will happen starting from the next edition.
The legendary Ivorian striker added that he was not surprised that Egypt and Algeria failed to qualify for the World Cup.
“Egypt and Algeria failing to qualify was expected, the teams who qualified are the best in Africa.”
