England legend Frank Lampard has played with the likes of John Terry, Michael Ballack, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Petr Cech, but named none of them as his best ever teammate.
The 43-year-old icon is one of the greatest players to play for Chelsea, scoring an astonishing 147 goals in 429 appearances. In addition, he starred alongside many greats with the Three Lions of England.
During his spell at the Stamford Bridge with the Blues, he featured in one of the greatest Premier League teams, along with Didier Drogba, who he named his best teammate.
“I’ve played with great players,” said Lampard on Sky Sports as quoted by punditarena.
“I always mention Didier and John as the greatest but if you’re talking about a link-up and the relationship we had on and off the pitch, the feeling that you know where someone is and they know where you are and you’re always kind of looking for each other, we used to train like that.
“Every day we used to try and do finishing together, talk about situations of one-touch passes, he’d be on the move, I’d arrive in the box, he’d be setting me up.”
With the two had provided the most goal combinations in Premier League history up until recently, their quality as a pairing is undeniable.
While the record has recently been broken by Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, Lampard is simply happy to have held the record and appreciates the game will always move onwards.
