FootballKaizer Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter Urges Players to Avoid Social Media for Mental Health's Sake
- Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has encouraged his players to avoid social media when they have the opportunity to do so
- He cited the impact it can have on the mental health of players in light of the criticism he and Amakhosi players are subjected to

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has encouraged his players to not get into the sometimes toxic wasteland that is social media if they can avoid it.
He was referring to how it can affect their mental health taking into account the amount of criticism and abuse they are usually subjected to. He was speaking ahead of the Amakhosi's DStv Premiership match against SuperSport United on Friday, where some Chiefs have threatened to protest in demanding Baxter's sacking.
According to SowetanLIVE, Baxter said:
“I don’t take part in social media. I don’t need to listen to speak to or listen to opinions of some people that almost make a profession out of going online and commenting about things that they really don’t have the deepest knowledge about."
“It’s got to be the knowledge of the supporter, I don’t mind supporters having their banter when sitting in bars or whatever and discussing and criticising. When you have players that are deeply affected to the point of depression, to the point of using medicine, then I don’t think the advice for me will be to be switched into social media to such a deep level.”
