FootballRio Ferdinand Ignores Ighalo, Ronaldo Claims Only One Player Improved at Man Utd Over 10 Years
- Rio Ferdinand has boldly stated that Bruno Fernandes is the only player who improved at Man Utd in the last decade
- The Red Devils have been far from impressive in recent times and Ferdinand has blasted the club’s recruitment department
- Ferdinand stated that most of the players the club signed in the recent past never returned much value to the club
Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has called out the club’s recruitment department, saying only one signing improved at the club in the last 10 years, SPORTbible reports.
The Red Devils lost yet another Premier League game this season over the weekend as they were beaten by Everton at the Goodison Park.
Manchester United’s Champions League hopes received a heavy blow following the loss and dissecting the team's performance, Ferdinand fingered the club’s structural issues.
United signed a number of stars in the last decade including Alexis Sanchez, Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Odion Ighalo, and a host of others, but Ferdinand claims Bruno Fernandes is the only signing in the past decade that improved after moving to Old Trafford.
The 43-year-old said on his YouTube show:
"I just feel that, when you look at it, Man United - you can talk about training grounds and all that stuff - but please, you’ve got to get the football stuff right.
"You’ve got to get the culture at the football club right, you’ve got to get the players that you recruit right.
"And if you look at the players that have been coming to this football club for the last eight or 10 years, if you were going to do a list of all of them on paper, how many of these players have come to this football club and actually grown in value or got better?"
When Fernandes was mentioned as the only Man United signing to improve at the club, he replied: "I would 100 per cent agree with that.
"I don’t know any others that have come and you actually go, 'Oh he’s actually miles better! We’ll get more money for him now!' There’s none.”
