  • Carlo Ancelotti has said he expects Chelsea to give Real Madrid a run for their money when the two sides lock horns at Santiago Bernabeu
  • Real already have one foot in the semi-final of the Champions League after seeing off the Blues 3-1 in the first leg played at Stamford Bridge
  • Thomas Tuchel's men will be looking to overturn the scoreline to stand any realistic chance of progressing to the next round of the competition

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed Thomas Tuchel's claim that Chelsea's Champions League campaign is over.

Real hammered the Blues 3-1 in the first leg of their quarter-final clash leaving them with a mountain to climb ahead of their second leg meeting at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night, April 12.

The west Londoners need a victory of at least a 3-0 scoreline to stand any chance of qualifying for the semi-final of the Champions League.

And when asked if the tie is still alive after the Stamford Bridge loss, Tuchel was categorical that his side are out of the competition.

"Why is it not alive? Because we have to find our level and I don’t know where it is," the German tactician said.

And while assessing Chelsea's Champions League chances, Ancelotti refuted Tuchel's claim that the EPL side are out of the competition.

According to the Italian boss, he expects Chelsea, who are the defending champions to stage a spirited performance.

"Chelsea are coming to fight and qualify. They know very well that it is difficult but they are going to try, that is the spirit of football, of big clubs that never give up," Ancelotti said as quoted by Metro UK.

Tuchel confirms Hudson-Odoi injury setback

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that English-born Ghanaian forward Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to be on the sidelines for weeks after sustaining an injury.

According to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, Hudson-Odoi's return date is still not yet known.

Hudson-Odoi suffered a knee injury during Chelsea's Premier League clash against Tottenham in January this year.
