Only a point separated the table-toppers ahead of their meeting on Sunday, April 10, in a mouthwatering clash that ended in a 2-2 pulsating draw.

Man City end matchweek 32 on top of the standings

The draw saw City head into the new week all smiles as it enabled them to maintain their grip on top of the standings.

Pep Guardiola's charges are leading the log with 74 points, a point ahead of Liverpool who remain second with just seven matches left to end the season.

Chelsea, who demolished Southampton 6-0 on Saturday, April 9, complete the top three slots with 62 points.

The Blues were in desperate need to arrest their frustrating run of result in recent days, having suffered a 4-1 embarrassing loss against Brentford last weekend.

They followed up that defeat with another one in mid-week, but this time in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

Arsenal, Man United stumble in top-four race

In the top four chase, Tottenham Hotspur were arguably the biggest gainers as they secured a huge 5-0 win over Aston Villa to boost their Champions League hopes.

The win saw them cement their place in fourth with 54 points, three ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal who were silenced 2-1 by Brighton at the Emirates.

Man United remain seventh on the log with 51 points after Everton edged them 1-0 at Goodison Park, with West Ham suffering a similar top-four blow after they lost to Leicester City.

Everton boost survival chances

Meanwhile, Everton's 1-0 win over Man United boosted their chances of surviving relegation, with the Toffees currently four points clear.

Norwich remain bottom of the log, with their 2-0 win over fellow relegation-battlers, Burnley, having no impact on their positioning.

Watford are the other side staring at relegation having suffered a 3-0 loss against Leeds in their own outing.

Mikel Arteta hits out at Arsenal flops after Brighton loss

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has slammed his charges following their 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Emirates on Saturday, April 9.

The Gunners were looking to make amends for their previous 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace when they hosted Brighton in London.

However, they were unable to get the better of the Seagulls as they fell to another Premier League loss to have their top four hopes dented.
