  • English-born defender of Ghanaian parentage Tariq Lamptey has been described as the fastest at Brighton and Hove Albion by his team-mate Adam Webster
  • Lamptey is one of the hottest prospects being pursued by the Ghana Football Association to switch his allegiance to the West African country
  • He has made 25 appearances for the Seagulls in the English Premier League having been deployed in various roles to underline his versatility

Brighton and Hove Albion centre half Adam Webster has rated Tariq Lamptey as the fastest player at the English Premier League club.

Webster, who is currently recuperating from an injury he suffered last month, disclosed that Lamptey's pace makes him uncomparable at the Seagulls.

Tariq has played an integral role in Brighton's campaign this season mustering 25 appearances in the English Premier League despite beginning the season with a hamstring injury.

However, his marked attributes are his blistering pace and ability to leave defenders dead and it comes as no surprise the Chelsea academy graduate is tagged by Webster as the fastest in the team.

Adam further confessed some of his team-mates speak to Tariq to slow down with his supersonic speed.

"He is absolutely lightning," he said of Lamptey. "Sometimes you have to tell him to calm him down a bit, because he is so fast. But you don' want to be in a race with him, that's for sure." Webster told Sky Sports as quoted by Sussex Live.

The English-born speedster of Ghanaian parentage is on the wishlist of the Ghana Football Association as the football federation seeks to beef up the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He is yet to represent the Three Lions at the senior team level but has played for the European nation at all youth levels and recently honoured a call-up to the England U21 team.
