FootballAngry Everton Fans Lead Calls to Have Frank Lampard Sacked
- Everton fans, including the club’s former striker Victor Anichebe want Frank Lampard sacked
- Lampard lost his eighth match in 12 games in charge of Everton after a 3-2 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday thanks to a late Maxwel Cornet goal
- Anichebe said the Everton board needs to make a tough decision with the season coming to a close
A section of Everton fans, led by former Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe are already calling on Frank Lampard to be sacked after yet another lowly defeat in the Premier League.
The relegation-threatened Toffees had the perfect chance to get what has been a rare three points this season when they visited fellow strugglers Burnley on Wednesday, April 6.
Despite going 2-1 up through two penalties by Richarlison, Everton somehow succumbed to another defeat as Burnley came from behind to secure a crucial 3-2 victory at Turf Moor.
Everton, who have not been relegated since 1951, now face a genuine threat of falling down the second tier of English football as they sit just one point above the drop zone.
One damning reality for the Toffees is the fact that they are staring relegation in the face despite the fact that the club has spent over £500million in signings since the takeover by Farhad Moshiri in 2016.
After defeat to Burnley, Everton faithful turned on Lampard, and a large section of them now want the Chelsea legend sacked with only eight games of the season to go.
It was former Everton striker Victor Anichebe who led in calls to have changes in the team via his Instagram.
"The players aren't good enough but neither is Frank. As much as I love him as a player and he looks a top guy.
"Everton will 100 per cent go down if a change isn't made." Anichebe shared on his Instagram.
The fans are also starting to believe that Lampard was not the right man to take over from Rafa Benitez, as the club continues to endure painful defeats in the league.
