This has proven to be the case for Kenyan sprint king Ferdinand Omanyala, who largely has his girlfriend to thank for his rise to the very top.

At only 25, the sprinter is already a living legend, breaking five Kenyan records in the 100 metres in a mere three months and practically coming from nowhere to establish himself as one of the greatest track stars Africa has seen in recent days.

But things were not always that way for Omanyala, who disclosed on Wednesday, September 22 that the journey to hit his top form has not been rosy.

Luckily for him, he has had a girlfriend who unconditionally believed in his dream and supported him, even when things seemed bleak at first.

While speaking during a function in his honour at The Stanley Hotel in Nairobi, Omanyala narrated how his partner supporter him financially during his intense training period.

“For me, the pandemic was a blessing in disguise because I trained for six months,” he started.
“I was training without goals and we had no money but thanks to my girlfriend as she was paying the rent and bills because she was working. She would bring money to the table and allocate some to my training, rent and food”
“I felt good because when I used to come from training she would heat some water and massage me,” he went on.

Omanyala went on to vow to give back to his lady now that his paths have began to open up, quote literally.

In the same event, Omanyala was gifted a swanky new Toyota Harrier by gaming firm Odibets for his heroics in the recent Kip Keino Classic event.
