Football“My Biggest Regret Is Not Being Able to Play for Real Madrid”: Legendary Ghanaian Striker
- One of the prolific strikers Ghana has ever produced, Dan Owusu has disclosed one of his biggest regrets in life despite having a glittering playing career
- Owusu, who played for Asante Kotoko, Tano Bofoakwa and BA United was a goalscoring menace in the West African nation in the 1970s
- His prolific nature ensured he won three top scorers awards in the Ghana Premier League and had success with the Black Stars as well but regrets not playing for Real Madrid
Retired Ghana international Dan Owusu has revealed his biggest regret in his life was not playing Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The prolific striker was a thorn in the flesh of opposing defenders during his heydays in the 1970s.
Owusu was a goalscoring menace in the Ghana Premier League during his time and clinched the top scorer's award on three occasions to underline his finishing attributes.
He was not only a threat to clubs on the domestic scene but transferred his predatory instincts to the national team level, where he formed a fearsome partnership with Kwasi Owusu for the Black Stars.
But taking a trip down memory lane, Owusu bemoaned his inability to don the famous white jersey of Real Madrid.
“One of my biggest regrets in football was not being able to play for Real Madrid. In fact, I was one of the most prolific strikers in the country in my heydays but it is unfortunate I didn’t get the opportunity to go professional." He told Bryt FM as quoted by Football Ghana.
The pain of not playing for the Los Blancos cuts Owusu deeper due to his love and support for the record holders of the UEFA Champions League.
“I have been a Real Madrid supporter for over 40-years and not playing for them as a player is something I regret most,” he ended.
