  • However, the visitors could not hold on, giving away a penalty needlessly in the 88th minute which Gamani Lungu converted

SuperSport United and Chippa United proved inseparable once again in the DStv Premiership this season.

After a dull 0-0 draw last October, both teams drew 1-1 at the Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday night.

The visitors opened the scoring through one of the goals of the season thus far from Azola Matrose. After receiving the ball on the right side of the 18-yard area, the electrifying winger cut in with his left foot to sizzle the ball past the helpless Ronwen Williams; a strike that would have made Arjen Robben proud.

It seemed that they would hold on, but showed the sort of ill-discipline which sees them winning only two of their last 11 matches, including this one. The Chilli Boys gave away a needless penalty after failing to clear a fairly innocuous route-one ball from a desperate SuperSport.

Gampani Lungu stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way to make one-all. There weren't any more chances created for a match-winner, with a point apiece proving fair after a forgettable match.

SuperSport United moved up to seventh place on the table, though they could not further cement their place in the Top 8. Chippa United will be kicking themselves for not securing all three points; still stuck in 13th, two places and four points away from safety in the relegation battle.

"It could have been 10 goals": Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler

A bullish Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says that his team could have scored as much as 10 goals against Baroka FC this past Sunday.

As reported on Sports Brief, the Cityzens were in unforgiving form against Bakgaga ba ga Mphahlele with a crushing 5-1 victory at the Cape Town Stadium.

After going down 1-0 by halftime, a brace from Mduduzi Mdantsane, Khanyiso Mayo, Craig Martin and Tashreeq Morris overwhelmed the shell-shocked visitors.
