Nigerian football fans on social media have registered their displeasure exactly a week ago when the Black Stars stole a march on the Super Eagles in the World Cup play-offs.
Nigeria and Ghana reignited their long-standing football rivalry for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup exactly a week ago - Tuesday, March 29.
With the game evenly poised at 0-0 from the first leg staged in Kumasi, Nigeria had the honours of hosting their West African neighbours in Abuja.
However, what ensued after 90 minutes left Nigerians badly bruised and heartbroken as they lost the World Cup ticket to Ghana on away goal rule.
Since then a lot of water has gone under the bridge with the Nigerian Football Federation sacking the coaching staff that handled the team in the doubleheader.
Reminiscing about the loss and doing the honourable thing by rendering an unqualified apology to the citizenry, the official Twitter account of the NFF apologized for the Super Eagles' inability to qualify for Qatar 2022.
But what was meant to be a solemn reflection turned out to be a registration of disappointment.
Below are some of the comments of the fans:
"Please just leave us alone..You people probably don't know the pain we feel," tweeted social media user @Cletusfriday2
A visibly disappointed fan wrote in Pidgin English:"Una still get mind upload video ontop apology..Make we still dey waste money dey go
"Helping Ghanaians on their one week celebration, we are indeed brothers and sisters," a sarcastic @seimah92 teased.
A succint and brief message from @SeyiAyantunde rehashed the general disappointment: "Sorry for yourself."

Technical Adviser of the team Augustine Eguavoen earlier tendered his resignation to the football house, and now the NFF has told other members of the technical crew to leave with immediate effect.
In February 2022, the NFF Board approved a recommendation of the technical and development committee by retaining Augustine Eguavoen as technical director/technical adviser (interim) while Emmanuel Amuneke became the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles.
