Football"It Could Have Been 10 Goals": Cape Town City Coach Eric Tinkler
- Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler boldly claimed that his side could have piled an avalanche of 10 goals on Baroka FC last Sunday
- The Cityzens were in ruthless form as they slapped Bakgaga ba ga Mphahlele 5-1 in a DStv Premiership match in Cape Town
- The home side had been trailing 1-0 at halftime, before erupting on the shell-shocked visitors in the second half
A bullish Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says that his team could have scored as much as 10 goals against Baroka FC this past Sunday.
The Cityzens were in unforgiving form against Bakgaga ba ga Mphahlele with a crushing 5-1 victory at the Cape Town Stadium. After going down 1-0 by halftime, a brace from Mduduzi Mdantsane, Khanyiso Mayo, Craig Martin and Tashreeq Morris overwhelmed the shell-shocked visitors.
The result shot City into fourth spot, while Baroka looked increasingly relegation-bound, left languishing in last place on the table.
Tinkler believed it could have been an avalanche that fell upon Baroka, saying to KickOff:
"I promise you it could have been maybe 10 because of the chances we created I thought Graig Martin could have scored five on his own to be brutally honest and only managed to get one.So an emphatic win, emphatic result but obviously disappointed to lose
Mdu. I thought the second yellow card was a little bit harsh on him. So we lose him for a couple of matches, at least Thabo Mokeke is coming back after serving his suspension. But it's three games with three wins which has not happened since April last year and we're now looking forward to our next match against Maritzburg United on Wednesday."
The Cityzens next travel to Kwazulu-Natal to take on Maritzburg United tomorrow night. The match will kick at 7.30 pm.
