  • Man United have not played a game since crashing out of the Champions League on March 15
  • The Red Devils welcome Leicester to old Trafford as they seek 3 points to help their top four cause
  • Ralf Rangnick’s side will certainly be without the services of Edinson Cavani, who sustained an injury while on international duty

Manchester United are back in football action on Saturday, April 2, and Ralf Rangnick will be hoping his side can bounce back from a disastrous European campaign when his side takes on Leicester City at Old Trafford.

United are currently sixth in the table, four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, and a win against the Foxes will go a long way in keeping alive their hopes of a top-four finish.

With more than two weeks since their last outing, United will be fresh and fit as they welcome the Foxes to Old Trafford, but that game is anything but straightforward for the home side.

Perhaps United can take comfort in the fact that they performed superbly in their last Premier League outing – a 3-2 win over Tottenham in a game in which Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat trick.

Team News, Manchester United

The most certain absentees for Manchester United ahead of the Leicester games are Mason Greenwood, who remains suspended by the club, and Edinson Cavani, who picked up yet another injury whilst on international duty.

The Brazilian duo of Fred and Alex Telles might need assessment as they were both on duty during the international break, while Frenchmen Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba are expected to be fit.

In attack, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were overlooked by England boss Gareth Southgate, and should both be fit enough to face Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Here is the possible starting XI for Manchester United:

De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Rashford, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo

Team News, Leicester City

For Leicester, they have received a huge boost after the return of Johnny Evans and Westley Fofana, who are expected to start at the heart of the team’s defence.

Despite recent issues, Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes are expected to be available for selection but Jamie Vardy’s absence with a knee injury could mean the Leicester boss will have to rely on his African talent for firepower upfront.

Either Patson Daka or Kelechi Ihenacho is expected to start upfront, but there is a feeling the Leicester boss will likely go for the Zambian in the starting XI.

Here is Leicester’s possible starting XI:

Schmeichel; Fofana, Evans, Soyuncu; Justin, Dewsbury-Hall, Tielemans, Castagne; Maddison, Daka, Barnes
