Father of Spanish Born Striker Holds Talks With Ghana FA Over Black Stars Switch

Inaki Williams has reportedly held talks with the Ghana Football Association over the possibility of switching his national allegiance to Ghana.

The Athletic Bilbao forward has been a long-term target for the Black Stars who are interested in luring him away from Spain.

However, Ghana FA’s efforts over the years have so far been futile, with the 28-year-old rejecting every approach from the West African country.

According to Joy Sports journalist Mufatwu Nabilo, Inaki Williams' father has recently met Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku in a bid to convince the striker to play for the four-time African champions.

Inaki Williams was born to Ghanaian parents in Bilbao. He holds dual citizenship and can play for Ghana and Spain.

The Black Stars qualified for the Mundial after they edged West African rivals Nigeria in a nail-biting World Cup play-off staged over two legs.

That has boosted the chances of the West African country to convince the Inaki Williams to join them for the ride in Qatar later this year.

The Ghana Football Association are also are hoping to secure the services of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah, Chelsea winger Hudson Odoi, and Brighton and Hove right back Tariqe Lamptey.

Iñaki Williams Hints at Possible Switch of Allegiance to Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Spanish-born centre-forward Iñaki Williams has just whet the appetite of Ghanaian football lovers following his reaction to Ghana's draw in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 27-year-old forward is one of many Ghanaians born in the diaspora being pursued by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to switch allegiance to the West African nation.
