  • Iñaki Williams may have just handed Ghanaian football lovers the best possible news yet following his recent reaction on social media
  • Williams, born to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother, is a holder of multiple citizenships which makes him eligible to play for Ghana
  • After several failed attempts by the GFA to convince him to switch nationality, Iñaki may have changed his mind following Ghana's qualification for the World Cup

Spanish-born centre-forward Iñaki Williams has just whet the appetite of Ghanaian football lovers following his reaction to Ghana's draw in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 27-year-old forward is one of many Ghanaians born in the diaspora being pursued by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to switch allegiance to the West African nation.

Following Ghana's qualification to its fourth World Cup, football enthusiasts have prayed on the GFA to go all out in the pursuit of Ghanaians with dual citizenship in order to beef up the Black Stars team.

Names such as Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi and Brighton's speed merchant Tariq Lamptey have been on the lips of football fans in the West African nation as Ghana seeks to reinforce a young squad to navigate the World Cup.

While Iñaki Williams has not been mentioned in the same breath as Odoi and Lamptey, the Athletic Bilbao man's reaction following Ghana's World Cup draw has given signals he might just consider a change of nationality.

Following Ghana's World Cup draw, the official Twitter account of the Black Stars tweeted the identity of Ghana's group opponents - Portugal, Uruguay and the Korea Republic.

Apparently, Williams was monitoring proceedings on social media as he was one of many followers of the account to like the tweet - which has raised eyebrows and whet the appetite of football lovers for a possible switch of allegiance.

English-born striker Eddie Nketiah seriously considering a nationality switch

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah is seriously weighing up the possibility of switching his national allegiance to Ghana, per reports on Ghanaballers.

The Black Stars qualified for the Mundial after they edged West African rivals Nigeria in a nail-biting World Cup play-off staged over two legs.

That has boosted the chances of the West African country to convince the Gunners' youngster to join them for the ride in Qatar later this year.
