Football fans in Ghana have called for the inclusion of legendary attacker Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars squad to play at the 2022 World Cup to exact revenge on Uruguay.

Ghana suffered heartbreak at the Mundial 12 years ago when Asamoah Gyan's last-gasp penalty kissed the crossbar to deny the West African nation from making history.

Prior to Gyan's missed penalty, Dominic Adiyiah's header in a goalmouth melee was stopped by ex-Barcelona star Luis Suarez with his hands.

The now 35-year-old centre forward was sent off for the handball incident but Ghana failed to capitalize on the penalty awarded and eventually suffered double agony when the Black Stars lost on penalties to Uruguay.

The incident involving Asamoah Gyan's missed penalty and Suarez's intentional handball left an indelible mark in the minds of Ghanaians and Africa at large.

Fast-forward to Qatar hosting the rest of the world in 2022, Ghana has been presented with the best possible opportunity to exact revenge on Luis Suarez and Uruguay.

However, in reality, Gyan, Africa's all-time top scorer at the World Cup, is currently unattached and might not be at the Mundial to exact revenge on Luis Suarez's Uruguay.

How did Ghanaians react after drawing Uruguay in the 2022 World Cup?

The Black Stars will open their campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a blockbuster clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

Ghana is appearing at the World Cup for the fourth time after missing the 2018 edition in Russia.
