Mamelodi Sundowns are approaching the crucial part of their season, as they still chase titles on three fronts.
Sundowns are still competing in the CAF Champions League, the Nedbank Cup and the DStv Premiership, but will have to do so with their defender, Rivaldo Coetzee.
Coetzee was originally part of the Bafana squad to take on France and Guinea, but was later withdrawn due to injury, Soccer Laduma confirmed. Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has since revealed the nature of the injury. Mn while speaking ahead of Sundowns’ final CAF Champions League game against Al Merrikh.
“The nature of the injury is a hernia…he was supposed to go for an operation sometime this week, but is probably out for maybe four to six weeks.”
As reported by The South African, Erwin Saavedra is also out of action as well due to an injury. Gaston Sirino has returned to training for The Brazilians and could future in the next few games.
Sundowns face a busy schedule over the next few days as they compete across all three fronts.
Sundowns first face Al Merrikh in the CAF Champions League tomorrow, before turning their attention to the DStv Premiership. Sundowns play Swallows FC on 6 April before taking on Summerfield Dynamos in the Nedbank Cup on 9 April. They then return to action in the DStv Premiership three days later against Golden Arrows.

FootballFootball fans are still celebrating the news that supporters can finally return to stadiums after two years. Football games in the country were played without fans in attendance due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but are now allowed to have fans filling 50% capacity of the stadiums.
Mamelodi Sundowns are the first South African team to play a home game following the announcement, as they host Al Merrikh in a CAF Champions League encounter. Sundowns will host the Sudanese side at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 2 April.
With Sundowns already having qualified for the quarter-final stage, the club have decided to reward their fans, The South African reported. Sundowns top Group A and cannot be dethroned from the top spot, Sports Brief earlier noted.
