FootballSouth Africa vs Guinea: Complications Arise Ahead of Bafana Bafana's Friendly Match in Belgium
- Complications have affected Bafana Bafana's plans for their friendly tonight against Guinea in Belgium
- Several players had trouble with their visas as they prepared to arrive in Europe, and were yet to do so at the time of publication
- Goodman Mosele will sit out the match against the west African nation due to an injury at the most inconvenient time
Fagrie Lakay and Bongokuhle Hlongwane are yet to arrive in camp for South Africa's match against Guinea in Belgium.
According to a SAFA statement, Lakay and Hlongwane had trouble with their visa applications, which delayed their travels. Visa issues had also affected Athenkosi Mcaba, Terrence Mashego and Victor Letsoalo, and they were also yet to arrive in the western European country at the time of publication.
iDiski Times reported, however, that coach Hugo Broos said it didn't affect his plans that much as he planned to feature them against France next Tuesday instead.
Broos said:
“Bongukuhle Hlongwane and Fagrie Lakay, they had some problems with visa, so they will be here tomorrow morning. My plans were already before the two games that those two guys will be playing next Tuesday against France, so I didn’t count on them for the game of tomorrow."
The in-form Goodman Mosele, who has been on fire for Orlando Pirates lately, will definitely miss out against Guinea, with Broos adding:
“Mosele came with an injury from Pirates on Sunday but he’ll be back in training on Saturday. We don’t take a risk with him in the game for tomorrow. He still has pain in his ankle, but on Saturday he’ll be ready, no problem.”
