Former coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Claude Le Roy has picked the favourite to qualify for the World Cup between Egypt and Senegal.

The veteran tactician and football analyst believes African champions, Senegal, are a step ahead of the Pharaohs and are likely to beat Egypt for the World Cup slot.

The French tactician, who has rich experience of African football was speaking on CANAL + when he revealed Senegal playing at home in the second leg is an added advantage.

“If you ask me, it's going to be more of an emotional benefit than a psychological one. I think they (Senegal Lions) are better. I think they will qualify. They also have this chance to have a second game in Senegal," he said as quoted by 13 Football.

Egypt will host Senegal in the first leg of their World Cup play-off at the Cairo International Stadium before travelling to the Abdoulaye Wade stadium for the second leg in four days time.

Senegal travel to Egypt for World Cup play-off

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that 2021 AFCON winners Senegal have enplaned to Cairo ahead of the first instalment of the two-legged World Cup play-offs against Egypt.

The Teranga Lions will be hoping to reach the Mundial for the third time in their history after previous appearances in the 2002 and 2018 editions.

Senegal will have to accomplish this difficult mission at the expense of seven-time African champions, Egypt over a two-legged tie with the first instalment slated for March 25 while the reverse tie has been scheduled four days later.
