Manchester United have made their first big move in hiring a new manager for next season.
Having sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021, United hired Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis until the end of the season to try and steady what was a ‘sinking ship’ at the time.
Rangnick was only appointed on a six-month deal and because of this, rumours have been rife on who would be the next manager at Old Trafford.
A number of big names have since been mentioned, including Mauricio Pochettino, Erik Ten Hag and Luis Enrique.
But according to Daily Mail, Ajax boss Ten Hag is now the front runner for the job after he was reportedly interviewed by the club on Monday, March 21.
Further reports say that United are being extremely cautious about the idea that Ten Hag will steer the club back to its glory days.
Despite having a conversation with the Ajax boss, nothing has been finalized and Manchester United are still open to talking to other candidates.
United’s Football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher have officially began the process of acquiring Rangnick’s successor, and it is expected that a final decision will be arrived at by the end of April.
Ten Hag will certainly leave Ajax at the end of the current season and despite news of his exit, the Dutch club are still in top form domestically and are currently embroiled in an intense race for the title with PSV.
Tension at Old Trafford as Rangnick tells Man United superstar that he is free to leave
FootballNotably, the Dutchman has become the preferred candidate for many Manchester United fans, especially after Mauricio Pochettino crashed out of the Champions League with his PSG side.
Another interesting name being tossed in the rumour mill for the Manchester United job is Thomas Tuchel, who has suddenly attracted interest of the Old Trafford landlords, who would be open to capitalizing on Chelsea’s current crisis to lure the German away from the club.
Barcelona on the verge of signing Kessie

A string of Premier League sides had previously expressed interest in his services including Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
