United have continually been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, with Ajax's Erik ten Hag also believed to be in the run for the Old Trafford role.

Thomas Tuchel shortlisted for Man United job

However, there could be a twist in United's hunt for their next manager, with reports suggesting the club have shortlisted Tuchel for the job.

According to Metro UK, the Red Devils are looking to capitalise on the crisis that has rocked Chelsea in recent days to convince the German to move to Manchester.

United chiefs are said to have been impressed at the way the ex-PSG boss has handled himself in the wake of Chelsea's unprecedented situation.

While convincing Tuchel to switch allegiance would be a hard nut to crack, Mirror UK claims a generous compensation package for both the tactician and Chelsea would be hard for the cash-strapped west London club to turn down.

Man United told to go all out for either Tuchel or Conte

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paul Scholes has backed Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte for the Manchester United managerial job.

United have been linked with both Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag for the role, but Scholes contends Conte and Tuchel are the real deal.

Despite being contracted at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel is staring at an uncertain future with the Blues after Chelsea were plunged into a crisis.
