Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile is a goalscoring machine, and the Namibian hopes to become a record-breaker as well.
The Mamelodi Sundowns’ striker has reached 20 goals in all competitions so far and has no plans of stopping just yet.
Shalulile has now also equalled Daniel ‘Mambush’ Mudau’s record, KickOff reported. Shalulile has scored 20 goals, two seasons in a row for Sundowns, a feat not accomplished since Mudau did it two decades ago.
As reported by Sowetan LIVE, Mudau also backed Shalulile to break his other goalscoring record, having scored 110 goals for the Brazilians during his career. Mudau’s 110 goals is the second-highest tally in the Premier Soccer League era, an achievement he shares with Mabhuti Khenyeza. Siyabonga Nomvete holds the record with a massive 123 goals scored in the PSL.
While Shalulile is still far off from that total, there are records he can still break this season.
The most goals scored in a single season in the PSL is 25, a record held by Collins Mbesuma.
Mbesuma also holds the record for most goals in a season across all competitions with 35.
Shalulile has 15 goals in the PSL and 20 across all competition. With Sundowns still competing on three fronts, the Namibian striker has plenty of chances to set a new record.
