However, the night could have turned nastier for Ronaldo as he almost lost his teeth at Old Trafford.
This is after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner took an awful blow directly to the mouth courtesy of Maguire's head.
The two Man United players were fighting for the ball in the Atletico box during a set-piece when Maguire accidentally clattered straight into Ronaldo who was right behind him as he tried to escape the eye of Atletico's defender Stefan Savic.
The Red Devils' captain could be seen moving his hands towards the back of his head after the collision as Ronaldo held his mouth with hands reeling in pain.
