Maguire was in action for the Red Devils in their 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League.
But an awkward moment came in the 84th minute when he was subbed off for Juan Mata as the crowd ruthlessly jeered the captain.
After the match, a reporter asked Harry Maguire if he was the right captain for Manchester United.
The centre-back replied:
"Well, of course, I'm the captain of this team. I've been the captain for three years now so I have great belief in myself and know our responsibilities.
"We have to stick together because we've got games left in the Premier League and got to put smiles back on the faces of our fans because they deserve better."
The reporter then asked him how he intended to do that and Maguire said:
"We're gonna stick together, myself as captain there's a huge responsibility. "We don't play for two and a half weeks but we need to recover, regroup and stick together.
"That's the most important thing and then the next Premier League game, we're ready to fight for this club."
