  • Paul Scholes has backed Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte for the Manchester United managerial job
  • United have been linked with both Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag for the role, but Scholes contends Conte and Tuchel are the real deal
  • Despite being contracted at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel is staring at an uncertain future with the Blues after Chelsea were plunged into a crisis
  • On his part, Conte is currently attached with Tottenham having joined the north London club after the sacking of Nuno Espirito

Paul Scholes has identified experienced Premier League managers Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte as his preferred choices for the Man United managerial job.

United are hunting for a substantive manager who will take charge once interim boss Ralf Rangnick steps down at the end of the season.

Underfire Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is believed to be the leading contender for the Old Trafford job alongside Ajax's Erik ten Hag.

Paul Scholes tells Man United to for either Tuchel or Conte

However, Scholes contends either Chelsea's Tuchel or his Tottenham counterpart Antonio Conte would be ideal for the Man United hot seat.

According to the United icon, Tuchel could come in and ‘strike fear’ into the under-performing United flops, while Conte, who was linked with the job after the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has what it takes to lift the club out of their malaise.

"I would have gone for Conte or Tuchel now. Possibly it looks like he [Tuchel] might be available at the end of the year," Metro UK quoted Scholes saying.
"Those two are top class elite coaches who I think strike fear into players and win which is the most important thing. United with either one of those coaches would be a much better squad," the former midfielder added.
