FootballFormer Manchester United Star Gary Pallister Names the Only Natural Leader in Red Devils Dressing Room
- Harry Maguire has been described as a natural leader despite that the England international is currently out of form
- Former Manchester United star Pallister has backed the defender to get back to his very best for the Old Trafford outfit
- Maguire who joined Man United for £80m from Leicester City has come under scathing criticism over his form and disappointing performances
Manchester United legend Gary Pallister has backed Harry Maguire to return to his very best for the English Premier League club, branding him a ‘natural leader’.
Maguire who arrived the Old Trafford in 2019 on a record-breaking transfer was elevated to the position of club captain six months after he joined the club.
The 29-year-old defender cost Manchester United a monstrous £80m from Leicester City but has come under scathing criticism over his form and disappointing performances.
Former centre-back Gary Pallister believes Maguire will be back to his very best for the Red Devils but admitted that the defender is out of form.
Speaking to BoyleSports via SPORTbible, Pallister said:
“There’s no getting away from the fact he’s not in the best of form. I thought he had a decent game against Tottenham.
“The own goal came at a bad time but that happens to the very best, that’s just a fluke.
“People say he hasn’t done this or that, but I think he’s been the natural leader for United over the last few seasons.
“I think he’s been pretty good in a United shirt up until this season. I think he’ll come back to his very best and, in the future, I think he and [Raphael] Varane will be the partnership at the back.
“There’s factors to why he’s had a dip in form but, ultimately, Harry has been pretty good and he’s the only one who seems to be the natural leader in the dressing room.”
Angry Man Utd fans blast Harry Maguire
Manchester United star blasted after being nutmegged by David De Gea leading to Man City’s second goal
FootballMeanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has continued to receive heavy criticism following his side’s loss to rivals Manchester City in the Premier League.
Angry fans have singled out the player for an attack as he was nutmegged by his own goalkeeper De Gea and made a dummy clearance which led to City’s second goal.
Awful performance by United defenders allowed Kevin De Bruyne to restore his side’s lead as Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both flail about in the box like fish out of water.
