FootballOrlando Pirates Co Coach Mandla Ncikazi Speaks Out on Calls for His and Fadlu Davids' Firing by the Buccaneers
- Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has broken his silence over increased calls for his and co-coach Fadlu Davids' sackings
- This comes after the Buccaneers' inconsistent run of form since the resumption of league activities in February
- Pirates has won only one match locally since, in the Nedbank Cup where they were recently eliminated, only performing well in the CAF Confederations Cup
Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has spoken up about the increased calls for his and co-coach Fadlu Davids' sacking.
Pirates has been playing poorly in local competitions since the league resumed in February following the 2021 African Cup of Nations. They have won only one match - in the Nedbank Cup - from which they were recently eliminated.
Things have been far rosier in the CAF Confederations Cup, where the Sea Robbers are on the verge of sealing qualification into the quarterfinals. It remains to be seen whether continuing success on the continent will prevent the club from making Ncikazi and Davids walk the plank.
Regardless, a section of The Ghost is convinced that the dup are not cut out for the job at hand, forcing Ncikazi's hand.
According to Soccer Laduma, Ncikazi said:
“I’m feeling bad for the supporters, they deserve better. I’m not happy for our management, they deserve better. But personally, as a coach, the day you get hired, you must be ready to be fired. I don’t think there’s a coach in any league who is not feeling under pressure and I’m in the same pool. So the pressure I understand."
“I also understand the frustration of Pirates supporters, they want their team to be in a better state. So, more than me, it's about the frustration they are going through. I wish I could change it so that it could be better, but it is what it is. We are just missing goals. I think we are one of those teams that are playing so well, but we just miss the main part. But it's not about me, it’s about the supporters getting what they deserve."

Football"Mnqithi is a small team coach": Annoyed football fan fires shots at Sundowns' co-coach after he trolls Chiefs
Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Mandla Mnqgithi has triggered something of a toxic reaction among local football fans.
As reported on Sports Brief, Mngqithi has been in the maelstrom that has been the fallout from the CAF Champions League match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly last Saturday.
The noise started with Kaizer Chiefs letting Al Ahly train at its training complex in the south of Johannesburg at the request of coach Pitso Mosimane. It then turned into a furore before the match at Soccer City, when some Sundowns fans blockaded a route leading into the stadium.
